NMSU Regents To Vote On Provost Procedure

The New Mexico State University regents are set to decide whether to allow new university president Garrey Carruthers to pick the school's next provost from the pool of presidential finalists he beat out.

Regents are scheduled to vote on the matter Thursday when they also consider NMSU's five-year capital outlay plan.

NMSU requires a national search for the university's top academic official, but Carruthers says four candidates were already vetted in the presidential search.

Presidents of NMSU branch campuses and Dona Ana Community College, including new DACC President Andy Burke, also are slated to give brief presentations to the board.
