NMSU Screens Documentary Next Friday

Adrian Guzman

The documentary, “Our People, Our Faith…Our Lady,” is the featured film presentation at the “Border(ing) Indigeneity: Tortugas Pueblo, Genízaro, and Mexica Cultural Expressions” two-day event next week.

The feature length documentary is about the annual Fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe held each December in Tortugas, NM. The film was produced by the City of Las Cruces Public Information Office and directed by the City’s three-time Emmy® award-winning filmmaker Adrian Guzman.

The Guadalupe Day Ceremonies are celebrated throughout the Americas. This is the story of the culture, faith and dedication of the people who participate in the Fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Tortugas, a small community just south of Las Cruces.

The documentary will show Friday, March 28, from 6 – 7 p.m. at O’Donnell Hall, room 111 on the New Mexico State University campus. The event is free to the public.

Guzman is Media Operations & Productions Coordinator for CLC-TV cable channel 20, the City of Las Cruces’ government access channel on Comcast.
