Now, Licensed Adults Can Fish At Young Park In Las Cruces

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish and City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department have opened Young Park pond to all licensed anglers and children under 12.

On Sept. 26, the state game commission voted to amend the fisheries rule to allow all anglers to fish at Young Park pond in Las Cruces. Historically, only children under the age of 12 were allowed to fish at the pond. By removing the youth only designation, all licensed anglers will be allowed to fish. All other fishing rules will be enforced.

Young Park Pond, located at 1505 E. Nevada Ave., is the only urban fishery location in Las Cruces. Changing this designation will allow more opportunities for anglers of all ages to enjoy the sport of fishing. The amendment takes effect prior to the winter trout stocking season which begins in early November.
