Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators are still trying to locate a Berino man who has been indicted in the beating death of a 41-year-old man on May 18, 2013.
According to investigators, there is an active warrant for Joel Ponce, 35, whose last known address was in the 100 block of Feathergrass in Berino.
According to witnesses, Ponce was with 41-year-old Juan Perez in the 100 block of Saltbush on May 18. Perez allegedly got into a fight and was transported to an El Paso-area hospital with severe head trauma.
Perez died several days later at the hospital.
