Authorities say a pilot has been killed in the crash of a single-engine plane on a West Texas mountaintop.
Law enforcement officers flying over the area located the debris Wednesday morning about 30 miles east of El Paso.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection statement says the pilot was believed to alone on the Cessna 182. The crash happened near Hueco Tanks State Park.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane was flying from Snyder to El Paso when it turned up missing Tuesday night. Forecasters say conditions in the El Paso area at the time were rainy with temperatures in the low 50s.
The name of the pilot wasn't immediately released.
Snyder is 325 miles northeast of El Paso.
