Las Cruces, NM – 'Operation Jumpstart', the 1.2 billion dollar program which sent 6,000 National Guard troops to the United States/Mexico border officially ends tomorrow. The program was launched in 2006 as a way to support the Border Patrol as they tried to increase the size of their force to 18,000 agents. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, 'Operation Jumpstart' fell short of its numerical goal, but the number of arrests of illegal border crossers in the El Paso Sector which includes all of New Mexico, has gone down dramatically.
