Overview Of The 2013 New Mexico Legislature

The New Mexico Legislature at a glance:

THE START:

The 2013 Legislature convenes at noon Tuesday.

THE FINISH:

The session adjourns after 60 calendar days — at noon on March 16. The governor has until April 5 to sign bills passed during the last three days of the session.

THE AGENDA:

Approving a state budget is a must-do assignment. Lawmakers also are expected to debate economic development incentives such as business tax cuts, public employee pension changes, the governor's plan to stop issuing driver's licenses to illegal immigrants, and school improvement proposals to help students struggling to read in early grades.
