Commentary: Today, President-elect Trump formally nominated Representative Ryan Zinke to serve as the Secretary of the Interior. Congressman Pearce welcomed the announcement issuing the following statement in response to the news:
“The Secretary of the Interior is a critical position for New Mexico and the west,” said Pearce. “The position reaches across issues ranging from Tribal to energy production, wildlife protection, public lands management, and more. Representative Zinke has been a partner on many legislative and regulatory issues impacting New Mexico and the west. His experiences as a member of the Congressional Western Caucus and member of the House Natural Resources Committee, and leadership skills learned through a long and distinguished career in the US Navy, make him a wise choice by President-elect Trump. I look forward to him taking the helm of the Department,” continued Pearce.
