Perry Optimistic On Immigration Enforcement

Texas – Gov. Rick Perry is praising the results of his immigration enforcement talks with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

That's after a steady drumbeat of criticism from Perry about the federal approach toward those enforcement needs and fears that Mexico's drug-related violence might spill into the United States.

According to The Dallas Morning News, Perry told a Washington, D.C., round-table of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Monday that he has "a real good feeling" after his meeting with Napolitano, a former Arizona governor.

Perry says that Napolitano, as a former border governor, "gets it." He says, "The border can be secured. It takes boots on the ground. It requires technology."

Perry has appealed to the federal government for unmanned drone aircraft and National Guard troops to patrol the border.
