New Mexico – With Election Day here, more than 200,000 New Mexicans already have cast ballots in the general election.
Polls will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Secretary of State Mary Herrera reported Monday that about 203,000 people participated in early in-person voting across the state. That ended Saturday. The early voting totals are preliminary and don't include final figures from two counties.
Early voting is up from the last time New Mexicans went to the polls in a gubernatorial election year.
About 132,000 people cast ballots through early in-person voting in 2006. Overall, 52 percent of registered voters turned out and cast ballots four years ago.
