Southern New Mexico residents will have the opportunity to address the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) regarding the application submitted by Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) for approval to abandon two of four units located at the San Juan Generating Station in Farmington.

PRC Commissioner Sandy Jones (District 5) has announced that two public hearings will be held at the Grant County Commission Chambers, located at 1400 Highway 180 East, in Silver City, on Thursday, March 26. The first hearing will begin at 2 p.m., and the second will begin at 5 p.m.

The application submitted by PNM also addresses PNM’s plan to replace energy lost by the proposed closure of Units 2 and 3.

The public is encouraged to attend the public hearings and enter public comment to be entered into the official record of this case.

Previous public hearings have been held in Santa Fe, Farmington, and Albuquerque.

The Public Regulation Commission expects to make a decision on PNM’s proposal this year.
