Santa Fe – Educators, parents and others plan to rally at the Capitol next week to oppose budget cuts to public schools.
The rally is scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m., a day before the Legislature convenes.
During the session, lawmakers must plug a budget shortfall and cuts to public schools have been proposed by the Legislative Finance Committee and Gov. Susana Martinez.
Among those joining in the rally are educational employee unions, the New Mexico School Boards Association, the Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Parent Legislative Action Network for Education.
