Rally In Farmington For Gun Rights Draws Hundreds

A few hundred people turned out in Farmington at a rally aimed at showing support for gun rights.

The Farmington Daily Times reports that many gun enthusiasts at Saturday's rally in Gateway Park say they feel unfairly blamed for gun violence across the country.

Many people who attended the rally held homemade signs or American flags.

A number of attendees carried holstered pistols despite pleas from rally organizers to leave guns at home.

The event was held by a group called Four Corners Defenders of Freedom.

The nation's debate over firearms was sparked by the December killing of elementary school pupils in Connecticut.

President Barack Obama has called for Congress to ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.
