Regional Award For NMSU Las Cruces Student-Produced Newscast

Denver—The Society of Professional Journalists has selected New Mexico State University’s student-produced television newscast as second best in region nine. Region 9 includes colleges and universities in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.

News director Nick Miller said, "This award is testimony to the hard work and dedication of the News 22 team. The students are learning the craft of journalism and proving how good they are. I could not be prouder of them."

Miller provides direction for the students but, he said, "They do the work and they deserve all the credit."

News 22 submitted 3 randomly selected newscasts to enter in the competition. One newscast was produced by NMSU senior Carol Nielson, the other two were produced by NMSU senior Sean Crowley.

Weber State of Ogden, Utah won first place.

News 22 airs live on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 pm during the fall and spring academic semesters on KRWG-TV.
