Saturday Apartment Fire In Las Cruces

  Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a fire at an apartment Saturday morning.

 

Las Cruces Firefighters were dispatched to the 1200 block of Nevada Avenue at 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning for an apartment structure fire.  The first arriving fire crew witnessed moderate smoke coming from the front of one of the apartments of a four apartment structure.  The initial fire crew had the blaze contained within minutes after initial arrival. 

 

Fire crews searched the four apartments and found no occupants inside.  No one was home at the fire apartment and the occupants of the other three apartments were already evacuated unharmed.  

 

The apartment suffered light fire damage but had heavy smoke damage.  The adjacent apartment also had light smoke damage.  According to Fire officials the fire originated on the living room couch in apartment #4.  The preliminary damage estimate is at $11,500.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

 

There were no reports of firefighter or civilian injuries.
