New Mexico – The Senate has unanimously confirmed Gov. Susana Martinez's selections to run the Environment and Children, Youth and Families departments.
F. David Martin, a New Mexico Tech adjunct associate professor, was confirmed as environment secretary on Friday.
Yolanda Berumen-Deines won confirmation as secretary of the Children, Youth and Families Department. She is licensed clinical social worker from El Paso, Texas.
The department operates New Mexico's juvenile justice and foster care systems and provides protective services for neglected and abused children.
Martin taught in the petroleum and chemical engineering department at New Mexico Tech before his appointment by the governor.
