Police have identified a 66-year-old man who is facing charges in connection with a fatal shooting in a Rio Rancho neighborhood.
Rio Rancho police said Monday that Donald Alber has been charged with an open count of murder, attempted murder and possession of a stolen firearm in the shooting death of 25-year-old Gary Morrin.
Authorities say Alber also shot 25-year-old year old Ashley Garcia.
Rio Rancho police spokeswoman Janet Garcia says Morrin was found with gunshot wounds Saturday and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Ashley Garcia is listed in stable condition.
Police say Rio Rancho detectives are trying to determine what led to the shooting.
It was not known if Alber had an attorney.
