The trial of a former New Mexico border town mayoral candidate accused of extortion by secretly recording an opponent receiving a lap dance is being postponed.
The trial of former Sunland Park Mayor-elect Daniel Salinas was scheduled to begin Monday.
But KVIA-TV reports that a judge on Monday granted continuance motions by both sides, though no date has been set.
Salinas has pleaded not guilty to nearly three dozen charges that include extortion, bribery, fraud and illegal kickbacks.
Salinas has been in the Dona Ana County Detention Center since his arrest nine months ago.
