Six New Mexico Students Visit Poland For Mock Trials

Six New Mexico high school students recently joined students from Germany, Poland and Israel in international mock trials on war crimes.  The New Mexico Human Rights Projects helped bring the students last month to Krzyzowa, Poland for the mock trials in the Model International Criminal Court. The group says students took on the roles of judges, prosecutors, defenders and observing journalists in three historical war crime cases.

The Model International Criminal Court seeks to encourage high students to study human rights and humanitarian law through the lens of the International Criminal Court.

The students, from Sandia, Amy Biehl, Su Cleveland, and East Mountain High Schools, also visited The Hague and participated in a private tour of the Anne Frank House.
