Six Sent To The Hospital After Las Cruces Crash

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police believe that a head-on collision on a busy residential roadway may be the result of a rolling domestic argument.

The Thursday evening collision between a Toyota pickup and a Mazda SUV sent six people to area hospitals, including the driver and passenger of the truck who were both airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso. Their conditions were considered serious but not life-threatening.

The driver and three passengers - including two children - of the SUV were transported to local hospitals. Their conditions do not appear to life-threatening.

The collision occurred on Idaho Avenue near Luna Street.

Traffic investigators believe the Toyota was headed westbound on Idaho Avenue when it veered into the path of the eastbound Mazda. The female passenger of the Toyota was believed to be riding in the bed of the pickup driven by a 33-year-old man. Police believe the two may have been involved in a domestic argument prior to the crash.

Citations and charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
