Student Art Show “The Artistic Earth” In Las Cruces

Las Cruces – DACC student artists present their work at the Doña Ana Community College (DACC) student art exhibit from April 1 to April 29.  “The Artistic Earth” features students from all art disciplines at the community college.

The art will be displayed at the Cottonwood Gallery located inside Southwest Environmental Center and an opening reception as part of the downtown arts ramble will be held in honor of the artists at the Gallery, on the downtown mall. The reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 1. Artists will attend and refreshments will be provided. A musical performance will be given by Ray “RJ” Duran.

Student artists are part of the Art, Creative Media Technology and Digital Graphics Technology (CMT/DGT) programs at DACC.

The Art program supports students who have a broad interest in the arts, offering students a multicultural examination of the principles and philosophies of Art.  In addition, the Art program supports students seeking introductory skills in a range of studio classes including Ceramics, Printmaking, Drawing, and Painting.

The CMT/DGT program trains specialists to design printed materials and web sites, produce videos and films and participate in game design. The two options for students in this major include a 2-year Associate of Science and a Certificate program. Both courses of study merge design and digital media. The program brings together technologies, including print media, web design, multimedia, digital photography, animation, and digital film.

The Cottonwood Gallery is located inside Southwest Environmental Center, 275 N. Main St. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 575-522-5552.
