Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police have arrested a man believed to be responsible for a drive-by shooting that occurred Sunday evening.
Ramon Baca-Valles, 33, of the 200 block of Romero Drive, is charged with one count of shooting at or from motor vehicle, and one count of tampering with evidence. Baca-Valles was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
Just before 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, police were called to the 1400 block of north Mesquite Street after someone heard what appeared to be gunshots and a vehicle speeding off.
No injuries were reported.
While investigating the incident, Las Cruces Police detectives learned that Baca-Valles left the intended target a voicemail referencing the drive-by shooting. About two hours after the shooting, police located Baca-Valles on Gladys Drive where he was taken into custody without further incident.
