Suspect In Three Robberies Arrested

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Police have arrested the man believed to be responsible for three Las Cruces robberies in the past couple of months.

Joseph Kress, 23, of 2049 S. Triviz Dr., was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 13, and is charged with three counts of robbery. Kress was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $30,000.

The three robberies Kress is charged with committing were Dec. 3, 2009, at the Pic Quik store at 2001 Bataan Memorial West, Dec. 17 at the Pic Quik at 1770 S. Telshor Blvd., and Jan. 11, 2010, at the Check N Go at 400 N. Telshor Blvd.

Las Cruces Police located Kress Wednesday afternoon at his residence on south Triviz Drive shortly after he was seen sitting in his vehicle near the Check N Go that was robbed Monday. The employee who spotted Kress notified store management and immediately called 911. The manager then got into his vehicle and began following Kress who left the area driving south on Telshor and then west on Lohman Avenue.

The manager was able to obtain the license plate number to the Nissan Sentra Kress was driving and relayed that information to police.

Kress was located at his apartment. He was detained for questioning and a portion of the cash from the Check N Go robbery was found inside his residence.
