Telshor Crash Arrest

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police have arrested the man responsible for intentionally causing an automobile crash on Saturday evening.

Leonard Calvillo, 19, of the 2100 block of Desert Drive, is charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of intentional child abuse.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, Las Cruces Police were called to the intersection of Telshor Boulevard and Claude Dove Drive where a white Chevrolet four-door was struck by another vehicle and run off the roadway. No serious injuries were reported but the vehicle was occupied by two adults and a 6-year-old girl.

Investigators learned that Calvillo was driving a 1999 Nissan Maxima when he intentionally struck the victim's vehicle, causing the car to crash into the median that divides Telshor Boulevard.

Detectives found out that Calvillo and the driver of the car that crashed have had a long-standing dispute.

Calvillo left the scene but was located and detained Monday evening after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $30,000.
