Police arrested three juveniles suspected of vandalizing several vehicles early Friday morning in Las Cruces’ Bellamah neighborhood.
Blas Ramon Tarango, 16, Anthony Gonzalez, 17, and a 13-year-old girl have been detained and charged for their part in this morning’s vandalism spree.
At around 4:40 a.m. Friday, March 27, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to what was initially described as shots fired on the 1600 block of Stull Drive. A Las Cruces Police officer spotted a red Chevrolet Blazer leaving the area. Officers followed the Blazer until it came to a stop in the driveway at 1432 Lees Drive.
Tarrango, the driver of the vehicle, exited and was verbally and physically non-compliant with officers. He, along with Gonzalez and the teenage girl were detained for questioning and later found to be involved in vandalizing vehicles in the neighborhood.
Officers learned that the 13-year-old girl struck at least three parked vehicles with a shovel as Tarango drove the Blazer along Montana Avenue, Stull Drive and Calle de Suenos.
Tarango is charged with unlawfully carrying a deadly weapon; resisting, obstructing or evading an officer; minor in possession of alcohol; and three counts of being an accessory to criminal damage to property. Gonzalez was charged with resisting, obstructing or evading an officer and three counts of being an accessory to criminal damage to property. The 13-year-old girl was charged with three counts of criminal damage to property.
Additional charges are possible as other victims report damage to their property.
All three juveniles were authorized for detention and will initially will be held without bond.
