Traffic Alert For I-10 Bridge Project In Las Cruces

  Las Cruces: The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District One office and La Calerita Construction have switched traffic over to the eastbound lanes on I-10 at the Avenida de Mesilla exit. This has been done in order to begin the demolition of the westbound bridge at Avenida de Mesilla.

The contractor is scheduled to begin the demolition on Wednesday March 19thand will take approximately 2 days. Each day the contractor will begin operations at 5:30 am and will end at 8:00 pm. The westbound on ramp is open; however the westbound off ramp is closed and will be open to traffic by mid-May. The westbound bridge is scheduled to be complete by early June 2014.

Lane restrictions will remain for NM-28/Avenida de Mesilla between Hickory Drive and Lakeside Drive (mile marker 29.5 to 29.1), and on I-10 between University (exit 142) and Motel Blvd (exit 139). Motorists are encouraged to reduce speed and to proceed with caution during peak hours.
