Planning staff in Las Cruces are recommending that a proposed strip club be given approval to open with just a couple of conditions.
The club would be the first in the city. Planners say it will have to pay for no-parking signs, not hold outdoor events, maintain landscaping and fence the property.
The city's Planning and Zoning Commission will review the project Tuesday evening and the council chambers are expected to be packed.
That's because opposition to the club called "The Bronx" is fierce.
Opponents argue the strip club would corrode the city's social fabric, undermine family values and increase the likelihood of crime.
