Two Arrested, Three Wanted In Anthony Stabbing

Las Cruces – Dona Ana County Sheriff's deputies have made two arrests in connection with the Nov. 4 stabbing of an 18-year-old man. Three additional suspects in the crime remain at large.

Sergio Reyes, 19, and Jonathan Talamantes, 17, have been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery.

Investigators believe Reyes and Talamantes were among a group of five men who were traveling in a white Mitsubishi Eclipse near Tierra Dorado Circle in Anthony when they encountered two males, 18 and 26 years old, walking on the side of the street.
According to a report, Reyes and Talamantes allegedly exited the car and began to attack the 18-year-old, stabbing him seven times in the back and once in the arm. The victim also sustained lacerations to his head after he was allegedly beaten with a tire iron.

The victim was airlifted to an El Paso hospital for treatment to his wounds and was later released. The 26-year-old man fled the scene.

Investigators are seeking information about how to locate Ezequiel Gonzales, 19, Fernando Rodriguez, 20, and Leonardo Limon, 19.
