Two men from Mexico and El Salvador are in custody in connection with the fraudulent application for a driver's license in New Mexico.
State authorities say Ivan Jose Gonzales allegedly drove Jose Dolores Flores-Bonilla from Albuquerque to Farmington on Friday to obtain the license and Flores-Bonilla reportedly provided fraudulent documents.
They say the 31-year-old Flores-Bonilla, from Mexico, was promised a New Mexico driver's license for $2,500 by people connected to a crime ring.
Authorities say the group is accused of fraudulently obtaining New Mexico driver's licenses for 40 illegal immigrants in recent months.
Flores-Bonilla and Gonzales were booked into the San Juan County Detention Center and later taken into custody by immigration officials.
