Un(occupy) Albuquerque?

By KRWG News

Albuquerque – The "Occupy Albuquerque" movement has changed its name to "(Un)occupy Albuquerque."

The Daily Lobo reports (http://bit.ly/o10QEi) that protesters voted Sunday on the name change at its University of New Mexico general assembly meeting.

Clint Cosper said the change addressed concerns raised about the negative connotations of the word 'occupy' in a city with a large Native American population.

The name change comes after some on social media were referring to the protests in Albuquerque as "Liberate Albuquerque."

More than 500 Occupy Albuquerque protesters demonstrated outside nearby Wells Fargo Bank and U.S. Bank in Albuquerque on Saturday.

UNM students are entering their third straight week of protesting Wall Street and corporate greed as part of national movement that began in New York.
