US 70 Closures Tuesday

Las Cruces, NM: The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) along with El Paso Electric will have intermittent closures on US-70 due to crew members installing 3 power lines across a portion of the interstate.

El Paso Electric will start setting up traffic control near mile marker 162 in Organ, NM at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. The closures are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. which will last approximately 10 minutes each time as utility lines are being drawn across the interstate.

Traffic control will be removed once the second installation of utility lines is complete. Motorists will continue to have full access to US-70.

The NMDOT is encouraging motorists to plan for minor delays they may encounter during these time frames, and to exercise extreme caution in and around the work zones. Updates on road projects and traffic alerts will be posted on the department’s web site www.NMroads.com, and by calling 511 in New Mexico or 1-800-432-4269.

For more information regarding this work you may contact Anthony McGarvey, El Paso Electric at (575) 523-3683, or Bridget Spedalieri, NMDOT District One Public Information Officer at (575) 525-7340
