Water Conference To Touch On Desalination, Energy

By KRWG News

Alamogordo, New Mexico – ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRWG) The annual New Mexico Water Conference kicks off Tuesday and the discussion will center on desalination and renewable energy.

The two-day conference is being held in Alamogordo. It's being sponsored by the Bureau of Reclamation and the New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute.

Agency officials say the conference aims to identify research needs concerning small-scale, low-cost rural brackish desalination water projects that involve solar, wind, geothermal and other renewable energy sources.

International experts also plan to discuss their experiences in integrating desalination technology and renewable energy in Australia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The bureau is also planning tours of its brackish groundwater desalination research facility in Alamogordo.
