You're Accepted...Sorry, That Was A Mistake

Hundreds of acceptance notifications were mistakenly sent to students who actually had been denied admission to the Kingsville campus of Texas A&M University.

Thousands of emails were sent last week to applicants telling them of their acceptance to the school southwest of Corpus Christi. But included in the mass email were about 500 whose applications had been rejected.

KIII-TV in Corpus Christi reported that a follow-up email was sent about three hours later telling the applicants of the error.

An A&M University System spokesman said Tuesday that human error was the reason for the false notifications and said the university has implemented more advanced security measures to avoid a similar mistake in the future.

A&M-Kingsville President Steve Tallant has issued an apology.
