Multiple Car Accident on I- 25

Las Cruces, NM – A multiple car accident near the Lohman exit on Interstate 25 is affecting both north and southbound traffic. New Mexico Department of Transportation Public Information Officer Bridgette Spedialeri says the accident caused one vehicle to lose control and roll over. Las Cruces motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

City to Initiate Red Light Camera Enforcement in February

Las Cruces, NM – Red light and speed enforcement cameras will be installed this month at four intersections within Las Cruces. The City Council voted for the program unanimously back in September. Las Cruces – Las Cruces motorists are advised that Lohman Avenue will have lane closures for approximately three weeks starting Monday.

The closure may affect RoadRUNNER Transit Route No. 60, 70 and 90.

Motorists wanting to avoid possible delays should seek an alternative route.

Virgin Galactic Inks 20 Year Lease with New Mexico

Las Cruces, NM – Today the State of New Mexico and Virgin Galactic will execute a 20 year lease for the company to operate at Spaceport America in Sierra County. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, Spaceport America Executive Director Steve Landeene says the legally binding agreement could lead to as much as 250 million dollars of revenue coming into the state.

NM 90 Reopened

Las Cruces, NM – Officials at the New Mexico Department of Transportation and local law enforcement have reopened New Mexico 90, between Lordsburg and Silver City.

The road had been closed to both eastbound and westbound traffic due to snow pack and icy conditions.

However, motorists without four wheel drive vehicles or tire chains are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Las Cruces, NM – Alamogordo Mayor Steve Brockett switched his party registration from Republican to Democratic on Tuesday.

The mayor who is up re-election in 2010 says he's never considered himself a liberal or a conservative.

In a press release, Brockett accused Republicans of not being open to working across party lines. He adds that Democrats have done a good job of bringing everyone together.

Road Construction and Closures in Southern New Mexico

Las Cruces, NM – Southern New Mexico motorists can expect some delays and detours this week, due to work on road shoulders, a bridge closure and improvements to several streets.

The Sunland Park bridge over the Rio Grande will be closed through mid January for corrective repairs. Detours will be posted to avoid congestion. Northbound traffic on Doniphan Drive east of Sunland Park Drive will be diverted through a one-lane passage because of paving work.
